I like to make hidden systems visible, exploring how strange rules quietly choreograph our bodies, objects, and everyday spaces.
Zixi Wang is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, sculpture, installation, and performance. Her practice examines the rules and systems that quietly structure everyday life, asking how seemingly neutral arrangements shape bodies, behavior, and perception. With a background in painting, she approaches space as a composition, extending pictorial relationships into objects, architectures, and constructed situations. She often builds deliberately complicated or inefficient systems that expose processes normally concealed by familiarity and efficiency. By making these structures visible, her work examines how power becomes embedded in ordinary objects, spatial arrangements, and routines, and how systems come to appear natural precisely when their mechanisms disappear from view.
Zixi Wang is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works between New York and Beijing. She received her BFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in 2026. Her practice spans painting, sculpture, installation, and performance. Wang’s work has been exhibited in Providence, Boston, and Beijing, including at Woods-Gerry Gallery, Gelman Gallery, and MakeDo Studios in Providence, as well as Boston-Wide Art Gallery in Boston.
