Stranger Fruit was created in response to the murders of African American men due to police brutality. This work focuses on an often overlooked casualty when these tragedies occur; the mother. Stranger Fruit gives the mothers perspective on this issue that affects this community on a daily basis.
About the artist:
Jon Henry was born and raised in Queens NY, now residing in Brooklyn. He is a visual artist, working primarily with photography. His work is comprised of 2 main focuses. One on the black community at large as seen in Stranger Fruit. The other focus investigates athletes and their representation in a fine art context.
